:: A CARNIVOROUS PLANT AT HOME - CULTIVATION INSTRUCTIONS 6
To cultivate these carnivorous plants, hold the following advices
The adult plants behave the same cultivating way as embryonic leaves as described below.
In autumn the plants produce in gemae in the center of the rosette (embyonic leaves) easily detachable with a brush, which are arranged without cover on peat mixed with sand, and will produce a multitude of plants. The collection and seedings of these gems are needed every year to ensure the regeneration of plants, because these miniatures sundew do not often live more than a year in culture.
In December, January, February, put the pots containing the gems, between 10 °C and 15 °C, slowly resume watering without letting water in the saucer. The growth starts in the winter months up to June in summer when the plants stop their growth, then keep the substrate barely moist until autumn and thereafter proceed to their multiplication. The substrate is a mix of 50 % peat and 50 % quartz sand.
Never do it. Never believe it.
► Never spray the plants with water.
► No fertilizer, they are frugal.
► Do not feed with insects nor with chopped meat. They won't die of hunger, their roots allow them to draw water, and small amounts of minerals contained in the peat. The supplement is made by the catched preys.
